Helen Ganya
As Dog in the Snow, British singer/songwriter Helen Ganya Brown creates ethereal and often wintry dream pop laced with art-rock and electronic elements and deeply introspective lyrics. In 2016, Dog in the Snow became FOMO’s very first release with the single The Slow/Quick Reveal, her debut album Consume Me followed in 2017 and she signed with Bella Union to release her 2019 follow-up, Vanishing Lands.
Born in the U.K. to a Thai mother and Scottish father, Brown spent her formative years growing up in Singapore. After returning to England, she settled in Brighton and began to immerse herself in writing and recording. Taking influence from mercurial heroes like Scott Walker, Sufjan Stevens, and David Lynch, she recorded Consume Me, her debut album as Dog in the Snow, which was released in 2017 by regional indie Battle Worldwide. With its powerful vocals, thoughtful songwriting, and eerie range of dynamics, Brown's debut caught the ear of Bella Union chief Simon Raymonde, who not only signed her, but hired her to tour as a member of his collective, Lost Horizons. Bella Union released her second album, the haunting Vanishing Lands, in 2019.
